Axial load on the rod
In the case of long strokes, the phenomenon of rod instability due to buckling must be considered.
The rod, subjected to a compressive force directed along the axis, tends to bend and withstands up to a maximum load beyond which it undergoes permanent deformation.
The choice of rod depends on 4 factors: rod diameter; cylinder mounting method; cylinder stroke; cylinder load (thrust).
